Chapel Ridge Golf Club opened for play in 2006. The course was designed by Bob Moore and Fred Couples.
Chapel Ridge is a master-planned golf community developed on over 1,000-acres of rolling countryside, with access to the conveniences of Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina. The Golf Club at Chapel is a championship course reminiscent of the old traditional courses found in the United States.

This is an outstanding course with great vistats on every hole. Design is by Fred Couples, so it is quite long...be prepared.
Course winds through an upscale development, but the houses, though visible, are not intrusive. Fairways are generous, but all have lots of undulations, and very few are flat from tee to green...somehow, most of them seem to be uphill! Greens are largish, with lots of contour, and most have lobes and peninsulas, which leads to challenging pin locations. Bunkers are MANY, are large, and front almost every green, as well as dogleg turns. Course has some VERY long distances between holes, and is not walkable.
Staff was cordial and made us feel at home. Very enjoyable experience, and I highly recommend.

Fairways are very thin, but the majority are in March. However, they always have hard bare spots all over the fairways on the course no matter what time of the year. There were numerous areas close to greens that were bare and marked as 'ground under repair.' If they resod those areas, it will still be a long time before they are playable. I've always liked going to this course. It has many good views from teeing areas. However, those perpetually bare areas are preventing me from choosing this course for a group outing in April.
